Welcome to my little corner of the Blogosphere, and another stop on this weekend's Operation Write Home Virtual Card-Making Party!
One of the things I've been doing lately is disappearing 6x6 paper packs to make cards for OWH. Give me a few days and some great sketches and I'm there! But one thing I haven't done a lot of is disappear any 12x12 papers. This is largely due to the fact that I sold most of my stash to reclaim a bit of storage space in my craft room, and my eyes have been focused on the shelf filled with neglected 6x6 paper packs, but I still have plenty of the 12x12 stash left. Just sayin'.
So my challenge for this VCMP is to take OWH sketch #63:
and use one entire piece of 12x12 paper. You should get a minimum of six A2 cards from one 12x12.
I chose this sketch because I think it lends itself well to 1/6 of a 12x12 and a coordinating solid color. Here's my take on the sketch:
I chose a really busy piece of paper so I didn't need to add much. Plus, that strip of teal card stock cuts the busy a little. Instead of adding something else for the heart element in the sketch I decided to let the twine bow stand in its place. This card is busy enough.
And I did make six of these. So let's do some math! I used 1 piece of 12x12 paper + 2 pieces of teal card stock + 3 pieces of white for the bases = 6 cards for OWH. I'd say that's a winner.
Don't forget to check out the other challenges over at the main OWH VCMP challenge thread. You'll have until Feb 25th to link up your cards.
Now go forth and create, and thanks for stopping by!
Leslie, thanks for hosting a VCMP challenge this weekend. I love this idea of disappearing a 12 x 12 sheet of paper - Lord knows I've got plenty! LOL
ReplyDeleteokay, took me a minute to do the math....but what an awesome challenge! I tend to make one card at a time so making multiples is a great way to get me out of my box! thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh dear...which paper to use??? I think I will pick one of my hoarded favorites and GET RID OF IT! :D I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteHooray!!! I love your idea and this sketch. I've been wanting to make a card using sketch 63 and I usually make six of every card in order to use up my endless supply of 12x12 papers, so this is perfect for me. Thanks for sponsoring this challenge!
ReplyDeleteLove your card - the circles make a great background for a birthday card.
Oh!oh!oh! What a fabulous challenge! We have our monthly OWH cardmaking party this weekend, I can make a sample card and cut the other papers and the ladies will assemble them, an extra kit of 6 is made. Yay! That makes me smile! I love your card! I have some busy paper, this is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteUtilizing paper until there are no scraps left, this is my kind of challenge. I used to always do this with 12x12 paper, and then I discovered 6x6 paper pads. Now I rarely use 12x12 paper for card making. But that doesn't mean I don't have TONS. Great idea for a challenge. And I love your card. The teal is so bright and cheery and will work perfectly for a gender neutral card.
ReplyDeleteI know what I'll be doing tomorrow morning. I have TONS of 12 x 12 paper.
ReplyDeleteGreat challenge! I have the perfect piece to use. I will use that sketch for card kits for my card parties too. Easy for them to put together and great use of paper.
ReplyDeleteWow - this challenge is so creative - thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteGreat card and a great way to use up the 12 x 12 paper. Thanks for the great idea.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much for hosting this challenge, Leslie. What a great way to use up those sheets of 12 x 12 papers and to make multiple cards at the same time.
ReplyDeleteYour card is wonderful!I love how bright and cheerful it is.
Oh my -- I am going busy using up my 12 x 12's - I have way too many - but I will accept your challenge and start with one 12 x 12 and make 6 cards with it. I find I usually only make one card - then move on to something else and then I have tons of scrap paper. This will be good for me. Thanks for hosting this great challenge. I'll start working on them tonight and post them tomorrow. I like this sketch too. Thanks again,
ReplyDeleteSharon
This is such a versatile sketch and definitely a good way to use up some of the busier paper patterns in my stash too! Thanks for hosting a challenge in this weekend's VCMP.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. I have a ton of paper that I can choose from. I need to start using up some of it.
ReplyDeleteAwesome idea! Thanks for hosting the challenge.
ReplyDeleteOh my. I don't have much 12x12 paper left (committed to not buying any more of the big stuff!) but I'm looking. I love that sketch, it's one of my go-to's. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the way all your colors match so well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to use up 12 x 12 paper. I usually make just one of a kind cards, this was most definitely a challenge for me but I did it! I will post in the morning when my butterflies that are going on the card dry.
ReplyDeleteThanks Leslie! Loved this challenge. A friend gave me a whole bunch of 12X12 for my cards, so it's a good way to start using it! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLeslie, this is a great VCMP challenge. I'll get to it tomorrow, I promise! Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteLeslie,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great challenge -- combining the task of making paper disappear and making a sketch card. Thanks for hosting!
I love your disappearing act! Scraps of paper overflowing my bins make me feel less than creative. I love to use it up and move on, so this is my new motto for paper. Thanks so much for the card sketch and the inspiration
ReplyDeleteThis is a great sketch and challenge using it. We chose two different images and for one we stuck true to the sketch and the other turned it on the side (three cards of each). Thank you for hosting this challenge.
ReplyDeleteOh... I just realized I was supposed to use the sketch and I used a different one. I have some more work to do today! Thanks for hosting this fun challenge =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting a fantastic challenge that enabled me to use up some hoarded dsp! I love the idea of using a whole sheet with no scraps leftover to organize! YAY! I love your card with all those circles and great colors too! Thanks for giving us an easy sketch which makes the cards go together quickly! NJ!
ReplyDeleteI am a paper addict...so this challenge is perfect for me. Thanks for doing the math! I also usually make 1 card at a time...so making 6 was a bonus! Your sample is uber fun with all the circles...and paper. Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteI love this challenge because this year I've challenge myself to not buy any more paper until I've put a good dent in my own stacks. It's been rather a difficult task I must say since there always seems to be a paper stack on sale that I just HAVE to HAVE! lol. Thanks for encouraging me to stay the path of my news years crafting resolution.
ReplyDeleteI love your inspiration to use up paper! We're all in the same boat, I fear! Your card(s) are a really nice take on the sketch--it is neat how you picked up on the dots in your sentiment stamp! Thanks for hosting during the party this weekend! --Yvonne
ReplyDeleteI'm away from my craft area this weekend, but am checking in on the VCMP participants and getting such good ideas. I love cards like this that let beautiful DSP speak for itself as a main focal point. There are so many pretty papers; it's a shame to cover them up. Nice, too, that you stretched them so far. I'll be CASE'g them when I get home.
ReplyDeleteGreat sketch and idea for the disappearing 12x12. Thanks for hostessing !
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, using one sheet of 12 x 12 paper to make several related cards. Will be definitely trying this out tomorrow. Thanks for hosting a challenge!
ReplyDeleteGreat card and great idea for a challenge. I have lots of 12 by 12 paper to use.
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely a winner - I love it! I have to go check out the other ones now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great challenge! It was a little daunting at first but once I found the right paper and started matching up card stock and embellishments I was off like a Greyhound!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, with this sketch you have 3 strips left over - I posted a 7th card on my blog with a slight alteration to this sketch to use up every last piece! Check it out!
loved doing this challenge! I full sheet of paper and lots of scraps later I have 6 cards! thanks for the push!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this challenge. It felt so good to use an entire sheet of designer paper. If it weren't for your challenge and sketch #63 that paper would have wasted away in my stash.
