Glittery Loopy Birthday

I have violated the No Glitter Zone and have contaminated my entire condo with shiny stuff. Here's my card, then I'll explain:

This card is very shiny. It came about in the usual way: me attempting to clear some space on my desk. A while ago, one of my attempts using the Memory Box Loopy Rings die involved covering a piece of card stock with three strips of 1" Sookwang tape and die-cutting the shape. The tape stayed intact and I had A Moment and just set it aside.

Today I decided to play with it ala a technique we learned in one of the Online Card Classes. I first removed all the rings to expose only that sticky area and covered it with Glitter Ritz pink glitter. It only stuck to the circles, and I took an old bone folder to burnish it into place. It gets all velvety and smooth, and barely comes off at all. Next I took off the strips of tape to expose the background, leaving the centers of the circles covered, then applied some blue glitter to that, then burnished it. Last step was removing the centers of the circles and applying the green glitter. I liked how it came out!

I rounded the corners, then put it onto a white card base, stuck on a sentiment from the UFO pile, and called it done.

Of course this cannot be an OWH card, so I'll have to send it to someone (never happen) or post it to my etsy store. The latter might actually happen.

Okay, I'm going back in to see what else I can rummage up.

Thanks for stopping by!

Products used but not linked below: misc white card stock. And no, I still have no idea why that Ellen Hutson image doesn't show, but the link does work.

  1. Wow! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw your glittery card! It is gorgeous but very labour intensive. Kudos for your patience.

  2. Glitter??? I love it, but it looks like a lot of work, not to mention the glitter removal later. I love the look of glitter, but it does go everywhere. Is Bobra all glittered up, too?
