Allez! Allez!

Yeah, the Tour de France is all over the Interwebz, and my pal Libby has it bad. She's doing her annual Tour de Craft on her blog, and she might have me thinking about watching le Tour next year, assuming I buy a TV by then.

I was wandering in The Captain's Quarters -- well, "wandering" as in "walking down the narrow paths", looking at stuff and trying to get a clue for my next card, when I remembered I hadn't checked the mail from yesterday. My order from Lil' Inkers arrived with some new dies! Whoot!

I chose the Fanfare Die, and thought I'd use my Hero Arts Mixed Pool layering papers since they are all matchy-matchy and I didn't have to think too hard. While down there (the papers live in The Abyss - that area under my desk and surrounding my feet), I saw a piece of Hero Arts Pool designer papers with BIKES on it, and this idea was born.

It didn't work out like I'd hoped, but here's the card, then I'll explain:

It all started with the scallop die and the pool card stock. I tried a few times, even with the metal plate as a shim, and it still didn't cut all the way through, so I accepted defeat and decided to use them intact and pretend that I meant to do that.

I covered the top of the scallops with a piece of black washi tape, the ran another piece of washi tape over it for the "road". The bikes are from the Studio Calico Transportation set of veneer thingies, and I colored them with my Copics, then went over the seats and handle bars with my Memento Black marker. They are stuck on there with carefully placed dots of Glossy Accents.

I added a piece of bird washi tape that's been on my desk forever, and I die-cut some clouds out of a remnant of textured white card stock.

It is important to note that this layer is a full 5.5" tall. I say "important" since I forgot to measure it before I stuck everything on, and thank goodness it wasn't more than 5.5"!!! GAH! I layered it onto a piece of Hero Arts black card stock and called it done!

I like how this turned out. :)

Thanks for stopping by!
