I don't know about you, but I make a lot of pretty trash. You know, those cards that seemed like a good idea at the time? Sometimes my ideas work, and sometimes not so much. I find it's the worst when I need to follow certain criteria for a DT post. When you're playing just for fun, you can change the rules, but you can't always do that for DT work.
So today I present you two cards that didn't make the cut for yesterday's ABNH sketch post.
My first example is "not following the directions". Here's my card, then I'll explain:
I thought it was adorable, and I even used four different pieces of SU Specialty card stock (Slumber Party, I think) from the Heaplet! BONUS! Unfortunately we're collaborating with Lawn Fawn this month, not Paper Smooches, and I used a Paper Smooches bird, so FAIL! I even used some coloring techniques I learned in the Online Card Classes: Copics for Card Makers. Sigh.
For my second "didn't make the cut" card, I thought I'd be clever and use all Hero Arts layering papers and a Lawn Fawn image, so I made this:
It all started with the dinosaur and some more Copic coloring. I chose to layer him on some Hero Arts green Artist papers, mostly because it had cool lines that looked like the ground. Plus, he's green.
Then I needed to figure out the background papers. I thought it would be too much to use more green, so I went with a piece of Artist papers in the Earth group and used the solid papers at the top. It technically follows the sketch, but I just wasn't feeling the love.
Neither of these will be trash, so no worries. But they didn't make the cut for the ABNH post. This also explains why it takes me so long to come up with my cards that do make it ... I make a bunch that don't.
That's enough airing of dirty laundry. Hmmm, as I typed that my brain thought "airing of grievances". Must be time to start working on Festivus cards, huh? :D NO WAY! 'Tisn't the season yet.
Thanks for stopping by!
