ABNH: Bokeh Challenge

It's time for a new challenge over at A Blog Named Hero. This one goes back to the Bokeh craze, and we're to use Bokeh on our projects. If you're not sure what Bokeh is, please stop over at ABNH where I attempt to explain it to you.

I have to admit my final card is probably my 5th or 6th attempt, but in the end I kinda like it. Here's my card, then I'll explain:

Sorry it's darker than usual. I see Noah out back building an ark (kinda dreary out).

I used my Simon Says Stamp Lots of Dots stamp set with four colors of Hero Arts ink: Pale Tomato, Soft Cantaloupe, Soft Vanilla and Soft Yellow.  I also got some "hybrid" colors when I didn't clean my stamps well enough between colors, but it's all good. :)  I stamped the solid images (first generation stamping) near the center, around where I knew I'd planned* my sentiment. Then I stamped them off (stamped again without re-inking, aka: second generation stamping) to fill the space at the top and bottom.

I found that the pale colors like Soft Vanilla don't do well with the second stamping -- too light -- so I added Pale Yellow to stand in for that.  I also used two or three sizes of circles for some variation.

We're collaborating with not one, but two companies this month: Finding Nana and Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft.

My Finding Nana element is the flair button, and my Faber-Castell element is, well, kinda special. :)  I scribbled some Coconut (white) Gelato™ onto my craft sheet, then spritzed it with a mini mister in which I'd mixed water with Perfect Pearl. I mixed up the puddle with a small paint brush to create a paint, then painted a few of the stamped circles. They are very shiny:

They're also not round since my hands aren't steady enough. ;/  By the way, that Perfect Pearl thing isn't my idea. It was totally stolen from Jennifer McGuire. I like to steal from the best. :)

Why not stop by ABNH to see what my fellow Design Team gals have made, then I think you should join in the fun!

Thanks for stopping by!

* I so rarely plan anything on my cards ... this was a special moment! :)

  1. Love your Bokeh effect on this card, Leslie! Very clever of you to stamp the outer perimeter in the lighter shades, and I love your color combo! Love the charming Flair, too!
Thanks so much for your inspiration, and for stopping by my blog...it was so nice of you!
