I Ought To Use This More

The Simon Monday Challenge this week is I Ought To Use This More! I don't know about you, but I tend to buy things, then forget about them. In this case, I bought the new Adirondack Alcohol Inks to, you know, complete my collection. I stumbled upon them in my "bought but not yet used" stash, and decided to open them and try to remember some of the alcohol ink techniques I used to do.

I made a ton of pretty pieces of ... stuff ... but two of them stood out as card-worthy, so you get to see those.

First up:

I put a drop of ink on a felt pad and tapped it all over a piece of glossy white card stock. Then I did the same thing with two other colors. For this card I used Mermaid, Honey Comb and Cranberry (which is an old color, but I liked it with these two newer colors). When I put the blue on the felt, I also added a few drops of Pearl Mixative, so in real life there is a little shimmer.

I broke open my not-yet-used Kelly Purky stamp set and used it. *feels forehead*

I did basically the same thing for the second card, but used Honeycomb, Cranberry and Indigo, with more red and less blue:

I really like how these turned out!

Thanks to the Simon Monday challenge blog for forcing my hand to actually use some of my new stuff. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Stuff I used: Co'ordinations Foundations Canvas Textured card stock in Gulf Stream (got it at a big box store), and the following:

  2. I like how those turned out, too. Alcohol inks can be tricky - I gave up on them long ago.

  3. Isn't it great when you actually "use " something you had to have a while back? Your backgrounds are really pretty!
