On the Diagonal

That Shari Carroll is a genius when it comes to colors. Here is her current Color Coordinates Recipe over at the Simon Says Stamp blog:

I thought it would be fun to use the lighter grey plus the two blues in a sortof ombre thing. For my design, I chose to CASE the inspiration card from the current (and sadly last) The Cutting Edge challenge:

What a perfect excuse to break out my Lil' Inker On The Diagonal die that I've never used.

For my sentiment, I opted to loosely follow the current Clean & Simple challenge:

If you roll all that together, this is what comes out:

I used three of Shari's colors, copied the layout of the card from The Cutting Edge, and since the C&S sketch was also three panels, I declare this a loose interpretation of the panels and stamped the sentiments in SSS Slate.

When I stamped the 'birthday' word, I managed to schmear ink onto the bottom blue panel, so it was time to embellish! I broke out my Avery Elle Finished Frames dies and used the stars to cut some grey (maybe Smoke? I wasn't paying attention) card stock. I also added a few silver star sequins.

I think it's still pretty CAS, and I'm happy with how it turned out.

Thanks for stopping by!

ETA: My card won Top 3 at The Cutting Edge! :)

Stuff I used: misc star sequins, and the following:

  1. Beautiful, I love your color choices, the blues and greys are gorgeous together and the stars are a perfect little touch!

  2. I knew I needed that diagonal cut die. This card made it even more apparent! Great job, Leslie.

  3. I do not need another die. Stoppit. I like the colors you used, this card is really pretty. Ok, so maybe just one more die...what could it hurt?

  4. LOVE. So perfectly CAS, and those colours....

  5. Fantastic combination of inspirations. Smart gal!

  6. to say great minds think alike!! I was just finishing up a similar card to post to the clean and simple blog...back to the drawing board for me ;)

  7. Wow! That's impressive how you got all those different inspirations to come together into a nifty CAS card.

  8. What a fabulous card! The colors are wonderful! So glad you joined us at The Cutting Edge! :)

  9. Love your choice of colors for your card!! With the stitching, a WONDERFUL birthday card!! Thanks so much for joining the challenge this week at The Cutting Edge:)!!

  10. I just love that diagonal banner and how you've used it on your cards, Leslie!! Congratulations on the Top Three win at TCEC!! Hugs, Darnell
