CSSC #8 Mid-challenge Reminder

We're about half-way through the current Crooked Stamper Sketch Challenge, so I thought I'd try another card to help inspire you.

One of the things I like to do with a sketch is flip it around to see if I get any other ideas. This time I flipped it 90 degrees:

then I made this:

It really does follow the sketch:

I'm a little bit proud of this card. First, I sponged the whole background to make the sky. It's too easy, and I might be over-doing it a bit, but it's free. Also, I don't think I've ever used the speech bubble die before, and now I have.

And I caved and got the new WPlus9 Going Places stamps and dies, and I don't even do cute. But I opened them and used them. I love that the dies cut out the little paws of the critters so you can put them over the edge of the basket. Oh, I also drew in the "weave" of the basket with a multiliner. I didn't like it nekkid.

So anyway, there's another orientation of the sketch, and hopefully it will trigger some ideas for you.

You have until the 21st to link up over at the original post, so hop to it!

Thanks for stopping by!

PS: Once again I used Sandy Allnock's Hex Chart to select my Copic colors. I used colors together I never would have thought of without the chart. Check it out if you haven't already!

Stuff I used: Copics (0, Y26 Mustard, YR23, R05 Salmon, E74 Cocoa, E71 Champagne, BG34, BG07, YG06), SU Bashful Blue card stock, and the following:

  1. You should be proud of that card, it's beautiful. That sky is perfect. I've tried that before and made a hot mess of it, you did a wonderful job with it. I love the little kitty in the balloon, and he's colored like Bobra. Cute!

  2. Sweet card, love the kitty! Gorgeous sky too. Might have to revisit this sketch - I was thinking the sentiment had to be the focus and I don't do well on those. Let me give it more thought.

  3. That is one awesome sky! And there's a cat, so how can it not be cute? Adding the weave to the basket was definitely a good idea. So yep, love the card!

  4. This is so cute! You can die cut out the paw??! Oh my! Too sweet. Good call on drawing in the weave of the basket. That'd be weird without it.
