SOS #220: Show Us Your Smile

It's Tuesday, and time for a new challenge at Shopping Our Stash. This week's theme is Show Us Your Smile, and we'd like you to use either an image that contains a smile, or the word smile. We'll also take smiley words, like grin, laugh, etc.

I decided to break out my Bird Crazy stamps since I recently purchased the dies and also the accessories stamp set. I needed to justify that particular retail therapy moment.

I went through my irreverent sentiments and found one from Riley and Company I thought would work.

Here's the resulting card, then I'll explain:

I tried. I really did. I thought it would be fun to dress him up a little, so I added a ladies' sun hat and a bow tie.  I water colored all the pieces with Distress Inks.

When I looked through the jumble of dies that come in the Bird Crazy set, I saw it contained not just the outlines, but various smaller dies to cut wings and other part-is-parts. I found the die for this guy's wing, and only partially cut it so I could tuck something under it.

That something was the bunch of flowers from the accessory set. I don't think I'll use the accessories enough to need the dies, but it would have been nice for these flowers. ;)  I colored them, fussy-cut them, and tucked them under his wing.

I like to think of this as a goofy guy surprising his girl with flowers.

So, got smiley stamps or dies? Why not break them out and play along with us at SOS?

Thanks for stopping by!

Stuff I used: SU Kraft card stock (yes, it's still marked Kraft, not Crumb Cake), MFT sun die (really old), Riley & Company sentiment, Copic YR07 (for the beak), and the following:

  6. Love those birds, and it comes with a die cut too, I looked at the birds when I was window shopping and said NO YOU DON'T NEED them. Awesome job and love the sentiment too.

  7. TOO fun! Even if the words weren't about smiling this card would make you smile! I totally need the bird dies and the accompanying stuff. They will be mine before the sun sets on 2015, even if I have to threatened Santa Claus with bodily injury.

  10. I still have SU _kraft_ too. Eek, now I need the accessories as well as the original birds! Way more fun than paper dolls. Your bird looks so hopeful! And goofy, of course. Great colouring, too!
