Merry Christmas Stockings

The current challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz is to make a masculine card using Christmas Stocking(s). I immediately thought of my Unity Itty Bitty Matching Socks stamp:

and I made this:

I thought it would be fun to have old socks hanging on a wall, so I stamped the socks image onto some Lawn Fawn Sweater Weather papers and cut them out. For the "wall", I used a piece of paper from my MME Wood paper pack. (That thing sure is getting a lot of use these days.)  I used a piece of brown from the Lawn Fawn pack for the floor. Both papers are mounted on a piece of card stock to give them some heft, which came in handy for the next step.

I figured a guy would take a nail and pound it into the wall to hold up an old sock, so I thunk and I thunk, and then I remembered I had a pack of still unopened Tim Holtz Memo Pins that would pass for nails. This was the point where I was glad the papers were on a piece of card stock, as those pins are thick, and strong. I know, because I tried to bend them into submission and it wasn't easy, people. I need to eat more Wheaties, or maybe spinach.  I ended up securing them with some tape on the back.

I went with a simple sentiment from Paper Smooches, which I white embossed onto the brown paper.

The wood panel was mounted on foam tape, mostly because of those pesky pins. Before I stuck it to the base I put some skinny red washi tape down each side of the card front for some added color.  I also put some foam tape under the socks to hold them in place, because the pins made them pretty much stick straight out. Not a look I was going for.

So except for those pins, this card came together pretty much as I'd planned it, which is always a winner!

I'm off to link up, then I'll share a few more challenge cards I've made this week.

Thanks for stopping by!

ETA: This card won Top 3 at Cardz 4 Guyz! :)

Stuff I used: Unity Itty Bitty Matching Socks stamp, Little B checked washi tape, and the following:
