Vintage Birthday

Considering I don't "do" vintage, I'm sure "doing" it this week. Last month one of my customers asked if we could make the card on page 27 in the Occasions mini catalog. Yeah, we could, and we still might, but just to be ornery I blurfed to see what other people have done with the Nature Walk set, and when I found this one, I decided to try it. This is what I ended up with:

Yeah, lots of layers. LOTS of layers. I just kept trimming down the bird piece and then adding and adding until it weighs about 3 pounds.

If we do actually make this card, I'll have give them an option to do the ribbon differently. I didn't want to cover up the leaves, so I ran the ribbon under the layer and cut a slit (you can see it - I did a sukky job of it) to feed the ribbon up through the layer and tie the bow. In hindsight, I might just have The Ladies cut two slits and not wrap the ribbon at all. Or they can - their choice.

Apparently I don't love this card, so we'll see if it makes the cut or not. I may go back and try the one in the catalog. It will certainly weigh less. ;/

In other news, it is raining here, so it's a perfect crafty day. Hopefully I'll get a few more cards made, and a few challenges done. If I do, I'll be sure to share!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I love your version of the bird card...but then...my cards usually weigh 3+ pounds! Your stamping ladies sure are lucky!
