A Blue & Green Weekend

This weekend started out on a cold note. I was a wimp and bailed out of the market early on the last market day of the season. I was cold to the bone. Last Saturday it was a balmy 60-something, but yesterday it was in the 30's and very, very windy. And the sun was not even out full-time. Farmer Mike had a heater for his mushrooms to keep them from freezing (high water content). I'm telling you - cold. So I was home by noon, and I made a quick batch of Mushroom-Barley soup to warm up. Yum! It only took 2 hours, which is about normal, for my skin to turn back to a normal color and stop tingling. (No, I did not apply the soup to my skin, but a warm-from-the-inside tummy is the next best thing!)

Then I set to work on something I'd planned to do next weekend - make card sets for sale at my December 6th show. I used the same Spring Moss PTI card stock and papers and ribbons I used the last time I made these, plus I also used the Aqua Mist. I made six 5-packs of Thank You notes:

I actually documented the whole assembly-line process that took the better part of two days, but I'll save that for another day when I have nothing much to say (LOL, yeah, right.)

On a personal note, I think I took a major step today in Stash Control. In the making of these six sets of cards, I used up (ran dangerously low on) some PTI card stock and ribbon, and I made a mental note to go out and restock. Then I stopped myself. If my goal is to use up the stash, then why would I use it up just to buy more? So I didn't! Yes, I am very proud of me. ;-)

After I'd finally finished all those cards, I thought I'd try and use the new (bought 2 months ago, but still unopened) PTI Ocean Mist blue card stock, and I thought I had the perfect patterned paper in my stash to use with it. But alas, it was not to be, as it did not match. Bummer. But the patterned paper did match the retired SU Blue Bayou, so I used it plus Certainly Celery and Soft Sky to make this:

The paper is pretty busy, so once I figured out it matched, I was faced with my usual, "okay, now what?" One of my customers just picked up her Fabulous Flowers set, so I thought to pull out my set and stamped a ton of the flowers in three colors, and then I cut them all out. Crazy, I know! Then the layering started, and it ballooned into what you see on the right side of the ribbon. Many, many layers.

And that sentiment? Yet another "try this, try that, change this" ... until I ended up with what you see. I stamped one of the Fabulous Flowers in Soft Sky, then I stamped the sentiment over it in Versamark and embossed it in gold (to match the gold brad, sorta.) If you look at the following image, you will see why the Embossing Buddy was created:

I suppose I could say, "I meant to do that." Well, I could!

I cut up the whole sheet of paper, so I'll go make the other 6 cards and thereby use a whole sheet of the 12x12 paper. Yay! One down, 483 to go, or there-about. Sigh.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Those thank you cards are just stunning! Totally love them, and way to go with the cutting out....it might be time consuming but so worth the end result...that card is yummy! AND you used up some stash...yay for you!

  2. OM goodness these are all FABULOUS cards. Don't stop...your mojo is in full swing.

    The cards sets are darling!

I have to tell you, my passwords I get when I leave comments for you are truly ironic. After your earlier post about skipping dinner so you have time to stamp, my password was "eated". A couple of weeks ago I got "menopas" (ugh).
