Two, Two, Two Challenges In One (name that commercial)

No, this is not the wrong blog! Crooked Stamper, here! I just posted something very "not me". Do not be alarmed!

Okay, everyone calmed down, now? Good. Let me try to explain what just happened here. Every week I read (what seems like) a bazillion blogs, including a bunch of challenge blogs, looking for something to jump-start the ole mojo. I have the best luck with sketch challenges, and sometimes I even print out the ones that speak to me. I have a pile of them, somewhere.

But today ... today, I experienced a double-dose of mojo, and when I got home, my idea made it all the way to paper. Lookie:

This is a double-challenge. It is a combo of the FTL50 (Fall-To Layout #50) over at Clean & Simple, and also the Color Challenge at Stamp Something. The layout is VERY "me", and the color challenge was to use Pink, Yellow and Green together, but they could be any shade or hue or dull or bright or whatever. I chose 'get your sunglasses bright', cuz I almost never use colors like this. So I guess that makes it a three-fer, huh? I challenged myself to do the two-fer with out-of-the-comfort-zone colors. :-)

What you see here is the owl (drat, another owl!) from the SU kiddie set Animal Stories, and the sentiment is from the retired Phrases For A Friend. I used Summer Sun, Green Galore and Pink Passion. The ribbon is non-SU, so now I cannot label this post SU Only. Carp. But hey, I actually found a pink ribbon to match, so I guess it's no longer my "Every Color But The One I Need" box of pink ribbons. This is just too much change for my brain on a Friday evening.

But wait! What is this?!?!?! This, my dear readers, is an "oops". You see, I thought the color combo was Yellow, Green and Orange, so I made this one first. And that IS SU ribbon, so this WOULD have been an SU Only post, but I did not read the directions first. But I made two cards, and I like 'em!

Hey - two cards and it's not even bed time yet! Woo-hoo! I think I'll go make a purple version of my blue tree card and call it a Sympathy card. That section, unfortunately, needs a little filling out.

Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I think they are both fantastic...but of course the one with the pink is my favourite :) It's good to step outside your comfort zone sometimes...you can often surprise yourself ;)
BTW: I think that a purple version of the blue tree card will be spectacular...can't wait to see it!

  3. Cute cards. And I could relate to SO MUCH of what you said -- a bazillion blogs, actually getting something from the head onto paper, an every color but the one I need box, maybe not reading the directions completely and totally and exactly right,... Thanks for sharing -- I enjoyed my first visit!
