SOS Challenge #7 - Kits, Swaps, Candy

This week's challenge at Shopping Our Stash is to use Kits, RAKS, Candy, Swaps or Swag. We challenge you to use something you got in a swap, an RAK, something you won - OR - a kit: a card kit or page kit, flower kit, etc. If you don't have anything from those categories, use something candy/sweets related or inspired, like red and white for a peppermint stick, dessert images, cupcake image or papers, etc.

Wow, that's a lot of options. For me, I had these two kits from Taylored Expressions that were unopened and unloved:

Yeah, it's fuzzy and out of focus, but I think you get the idea. These kits have been tossed and moved and kicked and stepped on until I finally stuck them in a cupboard and promptly forgot about them.

I used the one on the left for this challenge. I opened it carefully and noticed that all that abuse had kinda beat up a few of the card stock pieces, so those will need to be layers and not card bases. However, I did manage to make a few things with the remaining stuff. Let's get started!

First, I made more money holders, but this time I lined them. Here's the outside of first one:

and the inside:

and here's the second one:

and the inside:

I actually made two of each. I used a piece of the liner for under the sentiment, and added a layer of black. Oh, and the sentiments were from my UFO drawer. :)

While I was assembling the first money holder, I turned over the patterned paper to apply adhesive and *WHOA* I LOVED the back of the paper with the teal (yes, that is really teal), so I made this:

The sentiment and die used on the teal piece are from MFT, as is the scallop at the bottom. Both ribbons are from the kit. I never, ever, EVER would have put orange and teal together like this. Nope, never. What a happy accident!

After I took that photo, I decided those scallops were boring, so I grabbed this:

and added pearls:

As you can see, they are not all the same size, and that one, well, I don't want to discuss it.

Here is the card post pearl application:

You can see by the third scallop I was getting the hang of it.

Then I went back in for more. Heck, the kit was open and cut into, and all the papers matched, so I started to play. First up, a fun one with airplanes:

Then one with bouncy balls:

The ribbons and buttons on those are all from the kit.

More fun papers:

And one last one:

I feel it's important that I tell you this card is upside down. I had assembled it to be like the previous one, and that button stack was on the left. When I went to stick it to the base, I didn't notice it was upside down. Fortunately, I hadn't stamped the sentiment yet, so I could save my self, or at least the card base. Sigh.

I have lots of that kit left, so I might even make more cards so I don't need to put it away. Wouldn't THAT be different? I might even get inspired to use the second kit, too! Hey, it could happen.

Now it's your turn! Go rummage in your crafty collection, find a neglected kit, or a swap, or an RAK, or some blog candy, or something "candy"-like, make a card, then link to us at Shopping Our Stash to show us what you made!

Thanks for stopping by!
