SOS Challenge #9 - Technique Turn-back

This week's challenge at Shopping Our Stash is technique-related. Here's the details: Do you have some supplies gathering dust for a special technique that you haven't used in awhile (or ever)? Perhaps some Dreamweaver stencils, quilling, alcohol inks, shaving cream backgrounds, brayer techniques, melted crayon backgrounds, microfine glitter and scor-tape, even coloring with a different medium than you usually use? Dust off those supplies and create something new! You aren't limited to those suggestions, but be sure to tell us what technique you are using.

Did you read that list? I may or may not have ALL OF THAT STUFF, and more!! My challenge in doing my project this week was that when I buy all the s-crap for a new technique, I actually try it once, THEN I put everything away and forget about it. I found my shaving cream (they mostly sell the gels any more - tough to find the older stuff); I found my Dreamweaver stencils; I sold my quilling stuff and haven't been able to find any replacements; I found my Lyra pencils and stampboard; I have a vat of Gesso; and on and on and on.

So what did I end up using for this week's challenge? Post-It Notes. Yup - look:

These are 4" square, and were still in the shrink-wrap. HOW, you may ask, do Post-It Notes qualify for technique supplies? Well, you use them to mask off a section of your card to create an inner frame, like this:

I lined up my white square on my grid paper, then lined up the Post-It Notes on each side, and ended up with a masked-off area. I sponged SU River Rock ink around the edge, then carefully removed the Post-It- Notes to reveal my inner frame. I like it! I think I'll have to use this as one of my techniques in next month's Stamp Camps!

Note: It doesn't have to be square - mine just ended up that way. You can mask off any shape your little ole heart desires!

That image is from Stampotique, and I got it when I got the two snarky stamps I used here on Sunday, you know: to justify the shipping.

Products used (all SU except for the image): Basic Black, textured River Rock and Whisper White card stock; River Rock ink; Black grosgrain ribbon; stamp by Stampotique (isn't he cute?!).

So check out the creations from the rest of the SOS Design Team, then go rummage in your craft lairs, dig out supplies for a technique you either haven't done in forever or have yet to try, and DO IT. Then post it over at Shopping Our Stash so we can see what you made!

Thanks for stopping by!
